Granted, Jolie was never officially attached to the role, but based on what we've heard from cast members and the like, she was very interested in hopping onboard the highly-anticipated sequel to Robert Rodriguez's Sin City --which, of course, was based off Frank Miller's graphic novels. For those not aware, Sin City 2 will follow the storylines of A Dame to Kill For with Weisz (or Jolie) playing, well, the kind of dame a man would kill for. But here's my question: Is Weisz a better fit than Jolie for a role like this? Hardcore fans of the graphic novels could probably answer that best -- the way I see it, Jolie was perfect for the part. However, Weisz -- um -- she's cute and all, but I wouldn't kill for her ... that's for sure. It's important to stress that this is just a rumor right now -- production isn't set to begin until 2008 (supposedly) -- and so please don't write off the entire film based on what you've read here. Heck, perhaps you'd rather see Weisz take over since Jolie is just too damn Hollywood-ized right now -- gossip, gossip, Brad Pitt, gossip, gossip -- it's kind of hard to take her seriously anymore. The long-awaited sequel to the 2005 movie is rumoured to start shooting in 2008. Jessica Alba, Clive Owen and Mickey Rourke are expected to reprise their roles as Nancy, Dwight and Marv. The films - based on the graphic novel series by Frank Miller - are set in the dark underworld of Basin City and explore the violence and corruption that prevails there. Angelina has previously spoken about her excitement at being considered for ‘Sin City 2′. She said: “We’ve talked about it. A source claiming to be close to the production contacted me tonight to let us know that Angelina Jolie is out, and Rachel Weisz is in. Our source, who asked to remain anonymous, says that Rachel is in talks with Robert Rodriguez's people about taking on the role of Ava Lord, the titular “Dame to Kill For” in the original comic on which Sin City 2 is going to be based. If she gets locked in, rumor has it that Sin City 2 will finally start shooting in 2008. Now a disclaimer. I hate anonymous sources as much as anyone else. Don’t rely on them, I don’t. Please take the above as nothing more than a wild and completely unsubstantiated rumor until we can find some less anonymous confirmation. As for Rachel Weisz, Sin City 2 definitely sounds like the kind of movie she’d be interested in. In that sense the rumor works. But I have hard time picturing her as a dame to kill for. I love Rachel Weisz, she’s a brilliant and beautiful actress, but she’s not exactly the same type of smoking hot bombshell you’d get in Angelina Jolie. If you’re looking for someone to play a woman so hot men kill for her, you look for a more smoldering beauty. Scarlett Johansson maybe. But that doesn’t mean Robert Rodriguez won’t cast her anyway.
