Kylie Minogue ignored doctors by going ahead with her gruelling comeback tour so soon after battling breast cancer. The singer was warned exhaustion would take its toll if she pushed herself too hard so soon after being given the all-clear from the potentially life-threatening illness, but Kylie insisted on adding extra dates to her 'Showgirl Homecoming' tour so as not to let fans down. A source revealed: "She was told to rest up for several months. But nobody could stop her." After collapsing on stage at Manchester's MEN Arena last Saturday (13.01.07) - the 29th show of strenuous 33-date tour of the UK and Australia - Kylie has been ordered by doctors "not to perform in the immediate future". The 38-year-old pop superstar is said to be suffering from flu. Despite doctors' advice and the concerns of her family and friends, Kylie is eager for the show to go on. A source close to Kylie's family said: "Everyone wants her to put her work on the back burner for a while and just rest." Performances planned for Monday (15.01.07) and Tuesday (16.01.07) have been rescheduled for Sunday (21.01.07) and next Monday (22.01.07). Illness forces Kylie Minogue to cancel showsLONDON -- A respiratory infection has forced Kylie Minogue to cancel two concerts on her comeback tour following treatment for breast cancer. The Australian singer only managed to perform half of a scheduled 2 1/2-hour concert Saturday in Manchester, northern England, because of the infection, spokesman John Bills said. On Sunday, a spokesman for the Manchester Evening News arena, where Kylie was performing her Showgirl Homecoming tour, said doctors had advised her to cancel shows Monday and Tuesday. Bills said there was no connection to Minogue's recovery from treatment for breast cancer, which led to a year-and-a-half hiatus before a comeback tour that began in Sydney, Australia, in November. Minogue, 38, was diagnosed with breast cancer in May 2005. She underwent successful surgery in her hometown of Melbourne, Australia, that month, followed by five months of chemotherapy in Paris.
