But perhaps what will make the biggest difference on her second worldwide trek as a solo artist is not who she’s bringing, but who she’s not carrying. During her first solo tour, the platinum-blond yodeler was pregnant with son Kingston, making her physical agility and well-being not quite in prime. "I was about four and a half months pregnant, which was totally not a good idea," Stefani tells MTV. "I highly recommend not getting pregnant and going on tour! So if you're thinking about going on tour, do not get pregnant." Instead of a fetus, Stefani will be keeping company with Sovereign and Akon, who she describes as “two original artists that I have so much respect for.” Stefani previously worked with Akon while recording her latest solo effort, The Sweet Escape, on which the Senegalese hip-hopper contributes guest vocals to the title track. “He's a very, very cool guy," Stefani says. "He's just so familiar to me. When I first met him, within the first five minutes, I felt like he was somebody I had known a long time. It was very magical." But don’t let the heavyweight opening acts fool you: Stefani is still the star of her own show. And what better way to prove your tour supremacy than with a sulfurous number of outfits? "I have, like, nine costume changes," Stefani tells MTV. "It's kind of me indulging my theatrical side a little bit that I don't really get to do with No Doubt, so the show is a lot sweeter. It's basically a big show. It's going to be spectacular." Lady Sovereign Announces US Tour Dates Supporting Gwen StefaniLady Sovereign has announced details of her biggest US tour to date supporting Gwen Stefani on her extensive two month arena tour. Sov will play 40 shows to over 600,000 people, culminating in two massive Verizon Wireless dates in Irvine California. The US tour kicks off on April 27th following Sov's own headline tours of the UK, Australia and Japan. Sov headlines The Scala in London on February 7th and will then announce details of her first full UK tour commencing in April. 2006 was a phenomenally successful year Stateside for Sov including appearances on the David Letterman and Craig Fergusson shows, coverage in Vanity Fair, Rolling Stone, L.A. Times and Vogue to name but a few and most impressively becoming the first British artist to be the No.1 most requested video on MTV US. This year see's the 21 year old from Wembley gearing up to repeat that success over here. Late last year, initial dates were announced for Gwen Stefani's 2007 Sweet Escape tour. Now her entire 40-date, North American itinerary has been unveiled, kicking off in San Diego on April 22 and wrapping on her home turf with a two-night stand in Irvine, CA on June 22 and 23. Akon (who produced and appears on the title track from Gwen's new album) and British rapper Lady Sovereign are on board as openers for the entire tour. Gwen spoke to MTV News about the differences between this year's tour and the one she went on in support of her first solo record, Love, Angel, Music, Baby. On that last tour, "I was about four and a half months pregnant, which was totally not a good idea," Stefani said. "I highly recommend not getting pregnant and going on tour! So if you're thinking about going on tour, do not get pregnant." As for the Sweet Escape tour, she promises, "This time will be more fun. And I love the idea of being able to go into my theatrical side with [son] Kingston on the outside instead of on the inside. It was such a weird experience."
