Pop star Gwen Stefani has affirmed her anti-fur beliefs after being wrongly branded a fan of animal pelts on a pro-fur industry website. Animal rights group People For The Ethical Treatment Of Animals (peta) received a flood of calls and emails from distressed supporters who'd seen the website, prompting the charity's Michelle Cho to write to Stefani saying, "We know you to be a compassionate person and we wanted to alert you right away."

Gwen Stefani returns to Mohegan Sun in May

Pop rocker Gwen Stefani has announced she will be returning to perform a concert at Mohegan Sun Casino in Uncasville May 21. Stefani’s last visit to the casino was in December 2005. Since then, she has released a new album, “The Sweet Escape,” and given birth to a son, Kingston James McGregor, with her husband, former Bush frontman Gavin Rossdale. The pregnancy was announced during a Fort Lauderdale concert, a stop on her “Harajuku Lovers” Tour in 2005. Stefani has released two singles off “The Sweet Escape” since its release in December, “Wind It Up,” which peaked at No. 6 on the Billboard singles chart, and the title track, which occupies the No. 31 spot on the same chart. “The Sweet Escape” album is at No. 21 on the top albums chart. Joining Stefani on the tour are hip-hop performers Akon (who does some back-up on “The Sweet Escape”) and Lady Sovereign. The tour kicks off in April in San Diego, makes 40 stops throughout North American, and ends in Irvine, Calif., in late June.
