Ciara: The Evolution Certified Platinum in Only Five Weeks!!!

NEW YORK, Jan. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- The RIAA has certified R&B/Pop sensation Ciara's sophomore album, Ciara: The Evolution (La Face/Zomba Label Group), platinum in only five weeks. Ciara: The Evolution debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 with first week sales of 338,447, and is the follow-up to 2004's Goodies, which sold 3 million on the strength of its three megahit singles. Ciara: The Evolution is well on its way to meeting Goodies' high mark with two hit singles already all over R&B and pop airwaves, the get-it-started club banger "Get Up" (originally released as the single for the Step Up soundtrack) and the sensual ballad, "Promise," produced by Polow Da Don. "Promise" is currently #2 on the Urban Charts, #4 on the Mediabase Rhythm Chart, #6 on the Billboard Rhythm Chart. The urban hit is scheduled to impact pop radio next week. A special R. Kelly remix of "Promise" will also hit radio next week. Hot on the heels of "Promise" will be the up-tempo female empowerment hit "Like A Boy," which envisions a world in which the tables are turned on callous boyfriends as women give them a taste of their own medicine. Entertainment Weekly calls the "stormy club anthem" a "Ciara song par excellence" and picks it as one to check out, as do outlets as diverse as Marie Claire, The Boston Globe, and Blender. A video for the single will be shot in mid-January and is scheduled to hit airwaves in early February. Critics and fans alike have been raving about Ciara's "Evolution." USA Today says the new album "shows her versatility as a singer and songwriter" and labels the album "intelligently designed diversification." Ciara "displays significant growth" (People) and the new album "should one, two-step Ciara even closer to superstardom" (Billboard). Ciara "knocks out one potential hit after the other" (New York Newsday) on a "near perfect dance album" (Details). Ciara: The Evolution is the follow-up to 2004's triple-platinum Goodies, which spawned three #1 singles ("Goodies," and "1,2 Step," and "Oh") and earned Ciara four Grammy nominations (including Best New Artist), five ASCAP Awards for Songwriting, three Teen Choice Awards, two BET Awards, two MTV Video Music Awards, Two Lady of Soul Awards, a Vibe award, and the Female Entertainer of the Year Award from the Soul Train Awards. Ciara has also proven to have the magic touch at radio, with Top Ten hits with all the songs she has been featured on -- "Like You" (Bow Wow), "So What" (Field Mob), and "Lose Control" (Missy Elliot), which won the two a Grammy.

Garda enquiry into Ciara Gibbs' death moves forward

Senior Gardai have confirmed that they have spoken to the mother of 16-year old school girl Ciara Gibbs who was found dead in unexplained circumstances in her home last November. It is not yet clear if they have received any further information following their interview with the mother. Gardai told the Kilkenny Advertiser that their investigations are ongoing and they hope to speak to Ciara's mother in the future again. Ciara Gibbs was found by her father and brother at their house in Killure near Goresbridge in county Kilkenny when they returned home from a visit to family in Tipperary on Sunday November 26. Initial post-mortem examination results determined that Ciara had died as a result of drowning in the bath. Her death is still classed as an unexplained death although it has also been deemed a 'suspicious death' in the media. The girl's mother - Doctor Lynne Hutchinson - was found unconscious in an upstairs bedroom of the house close to her daughter. She was immediately admitted to St Luke's Hospital for treatment but was subsequently transferred to St Patrick's Hospital in Dublin where she has remained since the incident. Gardai have been waiting to be given the go ahead from Dr Hutchinson's doctors to speak to the mother since the incident in November last. However it has been confirmed that they have now spoken to her about the incident, but they are not releasing any more information at this time. Dr Hutchinson is a psychiatrist with the Health Service Executive in Carlow-Kilkenny. Gardaí say they hope to speak with her again in the coming days and weeks as their investigations continue.

Ciara: The Evolution

Just a teenager when she released her debut Goodies, almost three years on Ciara Harris is a more
confident and experienced young woman.
It’s not just Ciara herself that’s matured, her vocals and sound have too, as her sophomore set The
Evolution highlights.
The energetic opening track That’s Right, ft. Lil’ Jon, sets the tone for the rest of the album, with Ciara
excelling on the rest of the album’s upbeat tracks like Make It Last Forever (with her vocals floating
over Rodney Jerkins’ banging beats), inspiring Get In, Fit In and the pounding Get Up, ft.
Chamillionaire.
While she proves she can deliver on the slower songs, where so many other young R&B chicks fail, on
beautiful tracks like the lead single Promise, floaty So Hard and personal I Found Myself.
Slotted in between the tracks are skits on The Evolution of Music, Dance, Fashion and C, which
encourage the listener to be an individual.
Although lacking her level of originality, with this album Ciara sets herself up as a strong potential
successor to Aaliyah’s Princess of R&B crown.

Gardai may seek to speak to Ciara's mother a second time

GARDAI investigating the circumstances surrounding the suspicious death of 16-year-old Ciara Gibbs
at her family home in Goresbridge on November 29 have finally spoken to her mother and may speak to
her again.

Senior officers travelled to St Patrick's Hospital in Dublin where Ciara's' mother Dr Lynn Hutchinson
has been a patient since the incident.
Dr Hutchinson, a locum pyschiatrist with the Health Service Executive, was found unconscious in the
family home and just yards away from where her daughter's body lay.
Supt Aidan Roche declined to comment further except to say that officers may interview Dr Hutchinson
again and that the investigation was ongoing.
